Life & Work with Lexi Drew

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Drew.

Hi Lexi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved around a lot as a child and went to a different school nearly every year. In the 5th grade, I decided to be homeschooled. It was hard to make friends moving to so many different places, but that led me to become really passionate about music, dance and performing because I was always by myself.

My first big break was getting signed to Warner Brothers with the pop group L2M. From there, I got cast as the singing character for the Lego and Friends TV show and movie. It was one of the most fun and exciting experiences I’ve ever had. Along with Warner Brothers and the Lego movie, I was also the main character on a Disney mobile and YouTube Red TV show called Hyperlinked. My character was named Ella, and we also got to perform on the soundtrack for it. While in L2M, our song was featured on the Target “Back to School” campaign in 2016.

Since then, I have been working hard on honing my dance skills for live performances and writing and recording new music. I’ve also been recording some of my favorite music of my life.Through everything, my Mom, Nanny (Grandma), and my siblings are my biggest supporters. My Mom and I have gone through so much and she’s done so much for me. All I want in the world is for us to win and prove that we can make it big to all who doubted us.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At age 18 I honestly feel like I’ve lived 10 lives. Some of my biggest obstacles have been my Dad’s absence and lack of support throughout my life. This has caused a lot of pain, but I try to not let it hold me back. There’s been a lot of additional obstacles thrown at me in the last 4 years and it has caused some serious roadblocks. I’ve done everything and anything to keep pushing and that’s why I’m here today, to prove that those challenges didn’t stop me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer, rapper, performer, dancer, actress, and all-around entertainer. I am mostly known for singing and rapping; but I’ve been dancing since the age of 3 and have won every dance competition I’ve ever entered. I was dancing 30 hours a week in elementary school and I feel that that dedication and drive for what I do translate into my adult life.

This drive and passion allowed me to become well versed in all of the above-mentioned skill sets. What sets me apart is that I am very competitive because of how passionate I am. If I walk into a room, nothing intimidates me. I go into anything determined to give nothing less than my absolute best. I am proud of all of the work I do but am very excited for my next musical project to come out. I feel that the new music reflects me in a way that has not been shown before and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lessons I have learned in my journey is to never give up and to never listen to the negative, just go for it! As much as outside influences may try to bring me down, I have learned to lean on myself and my support system. As long as I keep my head up and tune out the negative, I will always keep pushing toward my goals. I can’t wait to for you all to see the next phase in my life and I can’t wait to share it 🙂
