Check Out Renae Owens’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renae Owens.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my blog Muvvahood back in 2017 when I moved to Dallas with just my boyfriend and two daughters. It was really lonely and scary moving to a new state with no family support. I used my instablog Muvvahood to connect with moms from all over the world & created a supportive community that guided me through my journey as a black millennial mother.

Muvvahood led me to meeting so many wonderful people and start sister brands like Muvva & Co. an athleisure line for moms & tots and also Muvva Luxxe my nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the enrichment & holistic wellness of women/mothers and their families through community contributions and partnerships.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d have to say it hasn’t been an easy road due to my anxiety which triggers depressive episodes. That affects my consistency sometimes with showing up and being present with my family and my online presence.

When I started to incorporate how I manage my mental health & being true to my story and self it has been a lot easier now more than before to be consistent & present in all that I do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve always been a creative at heart. Since becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom, I’ve been blessed to be able to be a full-time content creator. I love to make people laugh & create relatable video content about motherhood/parenting. I am most proud of the connections & true friendships I’ve made through blogging which wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t take the risk to move to a new state to begin with. My story is far from over. My goal is for Muvvahood & sister brands Muvva & Co & Muvva Luxxe to be an internationally known in the parenting community.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see Muvvahood gaining major traction over the next 5-10 years and being a staple parenting lifestyle brand. I see Muvva Luxxe positively impacting families in across the U.S by providing jobs, career development, childcare assistance and so much more.
