Today we’d like to introduce you to Wela Vargas.
Hi Wela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I remember I would sing in my room as a child. Always connecting to RnB and reggae music. When I got into 8th grade, I had a music teacher who heard me sing and pushed me to do the talent showcase. After performing, that’s honestly all I ever knew. Music was always a form of escape for me. A way to release emotions and thoughts. I sang All throughout high school and won an award for my first song I wrote. It wasn’t until 2017, during my second year in the Navy when I actually began pursuing my music career. I had Found my sound within RnB / pop. Getting to where I am now has been nothing but consistency and following through with hard work and dedication. I am always working on my craft by trying different sounds and working with other creatives to get another listening ear’s input. It takes a team to build and it has helped me grow in so many ways.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. There have been times where I’ve questioned my ability, my voice, my sound, and when things just didn’t go as planned or hoped. Struggles have been from working with other artists who doesn’t just know how to do business, mentally, and just funding my own work day in and out. It can take a toll but it’s always worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am An Rnb-Pop singer-songwriter. I also Dabble in modeling. I am most proud of the music I have created and the visuals I’ve been able to release. I am proud that I have been an independent artist and haven’t stopped focusing on my goal to pursue my passion. I find That my energy and sound set me apart. My biggest moment has been performing for an audience of more than 900 people.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson has been to focus on my journey and not worry about anyone else’s. That my timeline will not be another’s and that it’s okay to take a moment to breathe.
