Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Ríos.
Hi Nancy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello,
First and foremost I want to say thank you to VoyageDallas, for reaching out to me and showing interest in my story. I am happy to be here.
I’ve always had an interest in Real Estate, the moment I discovered what Real Estate was as a little girl. I just never ad the courage to jump into Real Estate full-time, I’d always read information about becoming a licensed realtor but never made a commitment, until about a year ago. I reached a point in my life where I was just not happy with my career and everyday life. I started having moments of anxiety and depression. Although I was making a decent amount of money and had worked my way up the cooperate ladder, I was just not happy. I wanted freedom to travel the world and be my own boss. I wanted to help others and make a difference. So, I took a leap of faith, and I quit my job. A job I had been working at for eight years… I didn’t know when I would see my next paycheck or if I would even make it in this crazy Real Estate world. What I did know, however, is that I wanted it. I wanted to learn, grow, step out of my comfort zone, and help as many families as I could. Seven months later, here I am doing Real Estate. I am very happy to say that I have helped five families purchase their homes, and become homeowners. I am also currently working with thirteen other families that will soon become homeowners themselves, with some hard work, dedication, and patience of course. It hasn’t been easy, but luckily, I’ve been fortunate enough and blessed with the great support and amazing people that surround me every day. As a new agent, I was told to not expect any income for about six months to a year. Nevertheless, I truly believe that my love and passion for helping others has gotten me to where I am today. With that being said, I hope I’ll be able to assist many more families in purchasing or selling their homes all around the DFW area.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road whatsoever!!! Before ever becoming a licensed Realtor, I took my exam six times… yup six times! At one point, after the third try I believe, I told myself “Maybe I can’t do this and I should just find another corporate 9-5 job.” When I finally did pass the exam, I was so overjoyed that I even shed a happy tear on my way out of the testing center. It meant so much to me that I finally passed. I then reached out to my friend and mentor. She advised me to post on social media and put myself out there for the world to see that I was now a licensed realtor. This was uncomfortable for me at first, especially with the whole social media idea, but I knew this is what I had to do if I wanted to help people and be their realtor. I knew that this was all part of me pushing myself and stepping out of my comfort zone. So, I started posting every day, and friends, family, and people I’d never even met before started reaching out and asking questions. I entered Real Estate thinking that it was going to be a breeze. The type of easy that you see on “Selling Sunset.”. Although I do have fun every day and love what I do, there is a lot of hard work that has to be put in. Just like any other job, it takes a lot of dedication, but this time, I feel that the work I’m putting in every day, now serves a bigger purpose.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Realtor in the DFW area I specialize in first-time homebuyers, I go over and beyond for each and every one of my clients. I assist my clients every step of the way from connecting clients with their perfect lender, to helping fill out the loan application, and of course, finding their perfect home. As far as what sets me apart from others, in the beginning, I felt pressured to stand out because of all the amazing realtors that were already out there. Later then, I came to realize that I can be myself and stand out because there is no other “You” in the world.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Something I love about our city is that there is always something to do! There are always events to go to, and DFW residents are always so welcoming!
Something I absolutely do not love are these gas prices!
