Meet Pressher Podcast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pressher Podcast.

Hi Pressher Podcast, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Aside from the two of us being related, our history together began 15 years ago. As you can imagine, within that time frame, we’ve walked alongside one another as we’ve evolved into adulthood. Each of us went to college outside of Texas, Drea going to Howard University, Dajha attending Grambling University, and Paige starting at Clark Atlanta and then transferring to attend Howard University. After returning to Dallas post-graduation, we reconnected, and this time we were all on the hunt for growth and finding our true purpose. And what’s evolving without your circle of friends joining you on the journey?

How did we get into podcasting? The pandemic was a time of stillness and allowed many to connect with others in more untraditional formats. As we found comfort in our intimate gatherings, more facetime calls, and online activity, the pandemic sparked an interest in finding new hobbies.

With much of the world on pause for in-person interactions, it created even more of a presence on social media and the internet overall; for our love of great conversation, understanding different perspectives, and experiences, we weren’t above the trend. We decided to create a platform to serve as a voice for black culture and like-minded women in the Dallas area looking to expand their mindset just like us. Our goal is to become a platform that gracefully holds uncomfortable yet necessary conversations that helps change our community’s perspective on toxic behaviors that have been normalized. Our topics vary from colorism, feminine health and masculine energy, mental health, dating, sex, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy within our community and abroad.

Our approach to tackling these issues with raw and genuine feedback sets us apart from many other up-and-coming podcasters. Although the mission is always to leave the conversation with a new perspective, we don’t miss the factor of entertainment.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road to building and creating Pressher Podcast has its ups and downs. Figuring out how to reach your goals requires much strategic planning and focus. Our idea for our platform extends beyond podcast episodes. We’re working towards building a brand, cultivating events, and connecting to the community of virtual content creators. The struggle? Where do we start? Creating it all, from building a loyal fanbase and producing quality content to finding the right team players to cross the finish line with – Pressher is becoming a jack of all trades.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Outside of creating our online community, Drea, Paige, and Dajha come from different backgrounds professionally and are currently on different walks of life. Drea, the marketing professional, Paige, the modern-day working mom, and Dajha, the nightlife curator, are all finding ways to bring their knowledge and talent to Pressher Podcast to create impactful conversations for our audience.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson learned so far is the urge to fight the need to keep up with social media. With everything changing daily, it can become overwhelming to keep up. However, we’ve learned the lesson of quality over quantity and being okay with moving at our own pace to ensure we’re only showcasing intentional content that serves our purpose and positively impacts our audiences.
