Meet Chandler Crouch of Chandler Crouch Realtors in North Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chandler Crouch.

Chandler, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My career in real estate and my faith in God began around the same time in 2002. It’s difficult to talk about one path without mentioning the other. I was formerly agnostic in faith. Within a year of becoming a believer in God, I prayed for direction in my career and put together a plan… I saved $2,000 to cover my expenses then decided I would block off some time on my calendar and give myself 2 weeks to decide what direction I wanted to take my career.

During that time I walked into the property manager’s office to pay my $365 (all bills paid) apartment rent. In that visit, I met the owner of the apartment complex and he asked if I wanted to join a real estate company he was starting. The rest is history.

It had to be divine intervention because I had hair down to my navel and I can guarantee you I wasn’t projecting the appearance or intelligence that would have given anyone reason to believe I might be successful at much of anything.

My career started with a focus on buying, remodeling, and flipping houses. I developed a systematic process to find good deals and realized there were more great investment properties than I would be able to buy myself, so I began brokering the deals to buyers.

My time as an investor and Realtor gave me the opportunity to see some glaring issues in the real estate industry. I saw that most brokerage companies were primarily focused on recruiting Realtors, not ensuring that their clients receive a high quality of service. At our core, our company seeks to solve this issue. It’s a subtle but profound shift. We put serving clients as our top priority ahead of recruiting, marketing our services, and everything else.

We believe clients deserve the best in everything. We only hire the best Realtors, adopt the best technology, and develop the best training. Everything is designed by creating what we would want if we were the client. Our path is more expensive and less profitable up front. Our bet is that if we treat client’s well, our reputation and results will do the recruiting for us and the revenue will naturally come.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Looking back, it seems like there was a lot of purpose behind everything that happened the way it did. In the moment, there were many times when I thought about quitting or questioned my sanity in deciding to proceed.

Learning how to hire well was one of the toughest learning curves I’ve ever gone through. I hired 8 people in 8 months for 1 position. All either quit or I had to let them go. I learned early on that the shortcut to hiring was to care immensely up front and put in 100x the effort an process to find the right person. This change in strategy has saved me much exponentially more time over the course of the team member’s career than the amount of time it took hiring them.

My 9th hire after that turbulent 8 months is still on our team today. We just celebrated her 6th anniversary. I truly have the best team on earth and I owe all our success to them.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Chandler Crouch Realtors – what should we know?
Our company specializes in selling homes in Tarrant County. Our track record indicates that our specialty is helping people sell at prices well above and a great deal faster than average market. Our focus on helping our clients achieve their highest goals has resulted in not having 1 review less than 4.9 out of 5 stars. We are very proud of that.

One thing that differentiates us from others is our marketing focus. As an experiment, we decided to stop doing traditional print advertising, but instead just funnel our money, time, and effort into finding ways to serve locally. Our theory was that if we became an indispensable and valuable resource in our community helping serve others, the business would magically show up.

So we set out on a mission to serve our 1) local communities 2) local charities 3) local businesses.

In 2017 we saw an opportunity to serve by helping local homeowners in our community protest their property taxes. We ended up helping over 3200 people protest, reducing tax values in total more than $30mil. When word got out that we provided this service for free, we were featured on local news stations several times.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
There is no way I could list all the people that have aided in our success. I have been very fortunate to run across very giving and generous people that basically opened up and shared all their secrets of success. If I had to pick just a couple qualities that truly have been my secret to success, I would say among the top is my thirst and dedication to learning, which is a gift from God. Jeff Cohn, Mike Mazyk, Tony Green, Ginger Knox, David Dennis, David Pannell, Inga Dow, and Ben Kinney are just a few instrumental people that come to mind that have shared beyond what is reasonable.

These folks are just generous out of no selfish ambition. They purely gave because they have good hearts and enjoy helping others. I am also very fortunate that Lauren Zakalik from WFAA took an interest in what our company was doing. She is a talented reporter and has a great heart. I also read about 3 books a month. 4 Disciplines of Executions, Emyth revisited, and Gary Keller’s books have made a huge impact. If it weren’t for Dave Ramsey, our company wouldn’t be debt free and there is a good chance we may not be in business.

One thing is for sure, it would have been impossible for me to accomplish a fraction of what we’ve done all by myself. If it weren’t for my wife, we would have gone out of business in the 2nd year. She is as much owner and responsible for the success of this business as anyone. Deona my office manager, and really the director of operations, is an absolute God send. Organizations like this just don’t exist without someone like Deona. Her talent and tenacity have helped make us who we are. Not to mention the best team of Realtors on earth.
