Life & Work with Brittany Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Lee.

Hi Brittany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I am from Los Angeles, CA born and raised. I moved to Dallas Texas straight out of high school. When I was a little girl about 8 or 9 years old, I would look at a picture and mimic the exact picture just by looking at it. That was the beginning of my love for art. So, throughout my years in school, I took art classes and fell in love with painting. When I moved to Texas, I began having to do my own hair which was something I never had to do back home because I always knew someone who could do it. So, I taught myself how to straighten, perm, braid and as of recently do faux locs. Then using my artistic talent, I taught myself how to do makeup. I practiced, watched countless YouTube videos for pointers and tips, and made a name for myself, Sneakerhead Britt! You may ask where the name sneakerhead Britt came from? That is because I love and collect sneakers. I have been in business for 2 years now and I am in love with what I do. COVID played a big role in me pursuing my passion for doing makeup and hair professionally. Over these past two years, I have done bridal parties, proms, brides, models, birthday shoots, and maternity shoots. I absolutely love what I do making women feel and look naturally beautiful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I have gone through everything from family/associates speaking down on my success. My family caught COVID at one point in time causing not only financial stress but also mental stress with not being able to do what I love. I also went through a period of time when I doubted myself and my work, comparing my work to others and not thinking I was good enough to pursue my passion.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a self-taught makeup artist and hairstylist (braider/faux locs). I am most proud of me stepping out on faith and believing in my God-given talent to pursue my passion for beauty and art. I look at makeup and hair as a canvas and I can literally enhance the beauty of whatever I am working on whether it’s hair or makeup.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
People can collaborate and support me by advertising my work. Reposting the work, I post of the makeup looks I do and hairstyles I do on my clients. I would love collaborate with different upcoming makeup brands and hair brands out there.
