Today we’d like to introduce you to Timeca Seretti.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a kid, I loved performing for my family and friends. In school, I had choir and drama classes, but I didn’t know that the entertainment business was a viable option. So, I enlisted in the US Navy, after doing R.O.T.C. for 4 years in high school. It wasn’t until after I was discharged that I got into acting by doing background work. My best friend heard on the radio that a production was looking for extras so she told me to sign up and drove me to the casting call. I did a lot of background work and it was through that I learned a lot about what goes on on set. After booking a certain amount of background work, I started to book speaking roles. I learned a lot being an extra, but I was ready for more and knew I deserved more. Fast forward some years, I ended up landing the role as “Lydia” on The Wonder Years.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When I first started in the industry, I was a single mother working 2-3 jobs to make ends meet. At one point of my life, I was homeless while struggling as an actress. I almost quit, but with my military background, I knew quitting wasn’t my style. So, I picked myself up by the bootstraps and just kept going whichever way I could. To me that meant, isolating myself from anything fun that would get me distracted. My focus was acting, booking roles, and improving my craft.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am sort of a modern-day Jack of All Trades. I specialize in it all. This is why my friends nicknamed me “Renaissance Woman” because I cover a multitude of things. I am an actress, writer, director, producer, singer/songwriter, and comedian. I also consider myself a badass based on where I came from, living on the streets, and who I was raised by. I am proud of what I went through and where I am today. I think what sets me apart is my work ethic and my comfortability to say no to things that don’t bring me happiness.
How do you define success?
Success is not a destination, it’s a journey. It took me a while to figure out what that means and what my journey is. Once I did, I found my bliss that led me to my real success.
