Rising Stars: Meet Manasseh Emanuel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Manasseh Emanuel.

Hi Manasseh, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Music has always been a part of my life in some way shape or form. My mom used to tell me even as a baby I was banging on pots and pans, but I really started taking music seriously at 12, which was when I got my first guitar. I did my first concert that year as well, and that’s really where I fell in love with playing, singing, practicing, and performing. Being involved with music has brought me so many great opportunities and given me a community of great people.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It most definitely hasn’t been easy a road. I struggled with my individuality. It was hard feeling like the I was only person that heard music the way I did. It was hard because my sound was truly different and unique, but that’s what made it scary. It took me a long time to love my sound, but I’m so grateful that God made me sound the way I do. I also struggled with my confidence and believing I could really do music because 1. Nobody in my family does music, 2. I had never really been involved in the music scene seriously, and 3. I hadn’t seen it don’t and I didn’t know the steps to get where I wanted.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a worship leader, singer, songwriter, musician, music director, producer, and artist, but overall, I’m a creative. I specialize in creating moments. I think I’m known for being an artist/singer, or being a musician. I truly proud of the way I’ve stayed true to who I am at my core. I think what sets me apart is my style. I’m different and tend to keep people on their toes. I always say I’m an urban Christian artist with a little gospel flare, rockstar energy, and pop star vibes!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up all I really did was play music and sports. The majority of my time was spent on a court, on a soccer field, in my room with my guitar, and at church with my friends. Whatever I did had to be fun and that’s still how I am today, if I’m going to do anything I have to try and make it fun. I was also super into marvel and superheroes; I just knew one day I’d get superpowers! Lastly, I’ve always dreamt big, at times unrealistically big, but big nonetheless. Since I was young, I have always been a dreamer, so I believed I could do anything. Some things never change.
