Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Villa.
Hi Claudia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My small business started in 2020. I had gone through a life-changing situation and Covid was happening so I fell into a deep depression. My friend Sara would encourage me constantly to start a small business to get my mind off things and to help myself out. I have always loved baking and creating stuff for other people, so I thought why not do it as a side hobby. I named my business Golden Goods, after my dog Layla who is a Golden Retriever. She was my support during my difficult days. I would fail a lot at the beginning but I would not give up. I continued to push myself forward. Eventually, I started joining vendor events and little by little my small business began to grow. I started extending my products to try new things. Friends started referring friends and before I knew it, I had my own clientele, and orders started coming in weekly! Till this day I continue to grow and introduce new products constantly. I am thankful for each opportunity I am given to make someone’s day with one of my products!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It is not always easy. There were days where I was emotionally drained or really depressed. Even then I would push myself to put my business out there. With the help of my family and friends that have been so encouraging, I have been able to continue going forward.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create different chocolate goods. Some examples are chocolate-covered strawberries, breakable hearts, hot chocolate bombs, gift baskets, cake pops/cakesicles, Aguas Frescas, etc. At vendor events, I am known for my Aguas Frescas which are natural juices made of fruit. Me and my mom have been able to try out new recipes. I am most proud of the opportunity to make personalized orders. When I am done and I step back and look at it, I am amazed of the creation I was able to make. I take pride in my work and like to give my clients options and make their ideas come true.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am a big plant lady. I have a collection of succulents and cactus at my house. In my free time, I enjoying planting, love to dance, and be with family.
