Ken, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Industry veteran that struggled with the way the logistics industry treated their people. 24 years ago, I decided to take the leap of faith and start a logistics company focused on people first. The simple motto “take care of your people, your people take care of your clients and the clients will take care of the company” was what I believed strongly in. A highly engaged workforce will outperform the competition. Building that family environment with the right mission, vision and values is key.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We’ve had our ups and downs. The industry is changing every day. Technology is changing by the minute. We’ve learned to stay focused on what we’re best at and focus our resources there. That’s led us to 3 years of substantial growth, but more importantly, given us the resources to develop a robust learning and development program.
We believe if you have the right traits (Driven, Competent, Caring), we’ve got a system that can develop people who will outperform the competition. That leads to continued growth which provides further opportunities for our people and creates more jobs.

Very proud of growing like we are while maintaining such a great culture. Winning back to back BPTW awards these past two years is awesome. It shows that if you grow the right way, it’s not only rewarding to your balance sheet but helps build and maintain our culture. That growth has given us the ability to invest and impact the community in ways we could not have before.
What sets us apart is an intense focus on our what we’re great out. Many companies in our space want to be everything to everyone despite how it could impact the overall client experience. Our ‘high touch’ model is best in class as long as we support the right type of business. Our clients embrace it and it’s proven in our most recent Net Promotor Score of 67.
Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years? Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
There is a ton of M&A activity in the market today. Many feel the industry is fragmented and organic growth is a challenge. Buying companies is the simple way to grow if you have the capital, but we’ve thrived by focusing on our niche. That niche is a billion dollar industry that we intend to continue to take market share from.
E-commerce and home delivery have changed so much of our industry. We don’t pursue business in that segment, but many of our competitors have chosen to do so. It’s difficult to shy away from such a large potential revenue stream, but we’ve seen it negatively impact service for most of our competition. Delivering a server rack to a data center is much different than bringing an exercise bike to someone’s home.
