Today we’d like to introduce you to Giselle Hernandez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Giselle Hernandez I am 25 years old and new to the city. Last year April 2020 I moved from New Mexico to Dallas, TX. I wanted to move to a bigger city because I knew there were a lot opportunities for my business. I had my doubts knowing I needed to start from zero again and not having any clients or family/friends. In December 2020 I decided to open my own salon. At the time I was working two jobs. I was working four days out of the week at one and the other three at my salon. I didn’t have any days off, for a good period of time knowing that was the sacrifice I needed to do in order to grow my clientele. I slowly started getting referrals and was forming great relationships with them. I eventually started to get fully booked those three days and decided I needed to take the risk and do it full time. I am now open Tuesday- Saturday and thankful to be doing what I love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Opening a business is always going to have some challenges along the way nothing was easy. I definitely had to learn and do a lot of research and dedicate time into this. A challenge of mine was doubting myself prior to opening my salon. I had doubts and cold feet knowing that I couldn’t change my mind as soon as I signed my salon lease. Also knowing that my family wasn’t here physically to help was a harsh feeling because I am very family-oriented. I accomplished to push myself to do this and I’m so grateful for that. My suggestion to anyone going through that is to go for it, because you will never know the outcome unless you get out of your comfort zone.

I specialize in lash extensions wispy sets to be exact I love making my clients feel beautiful and seeing their smile when they see the finished look.
I take pride in my work and provide the best quality and satisfaction for everyone that steps in my salon. As soon as my client walks in, I want them to feel comfortable and relaxed knowing they are in a good environment. I like to build that bond and relationship with my clientele because in the long run, they become good friends.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was when I used to live in San Francisco and my sister and I would visit my mom at her hair salon. We would bug her for a couple of hours, then cross the street and pick up our favorite food.
