Community Highlights: Meet Te’Leisha Johnson of Posh Modeling and Poshly Dressed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Te’Leisha Johnson.

Hi Te’Leisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was just a 13-year-old girl who struggled with her confidence and used fashion and modeling as an outlet. I never thought the techniques and skills I learned over the years would lead me to the career that I have now. I started doing fashion shows in my hometown while working in retail and obtaining my bachelor’s degree in social work from Grambling State University, where I also modeled and expressed my sense of style on a daily basis. I had the opportunity to model for Carlie Red on Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta and my experience inspired others. I was approached by several aspiring models and that sparked the conversation about teaching. I had several girls from my hometown ask me to teach them the things that I’ve learned and I knew that I had to start a modeling organization. I started with a summer camp in May 2017 and a fashion show in July 2017. We’ve since then had three sold-out fashion shows and assisted over 200 models. I had a strong desire to teach, so I decided to open a modeling school with a mission to train, travel, and transform. I knew from my experience with fashion shows that if I wanted to have certain opportunities I had to create them. I combined my love for modeling and fashion and started Poshly Dressed, which is my fashion brand created to assist women in owning their individuality and getting dressed for the life they desire.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Initially, I experienced a smooth road and then I ran into a few speed bumps that caused me to slow down. In 2018, I lost my light (my grandmother) and it was quite hard for me to see clearly. I experienced every stage of grief (including depression) and I slowly fell out of love with my passions. I stayed on the path, but it was harder for me to show up knowing I did not have my biggest supporter.

In 2020, I asked God how could get back up and he said “Get Dressed.” This is when I realized the power of getting dressed and decided to get up and fight back. I like to think that opportunity comes in the form of destruction. Once I decided to get dressed, I realized there were other women who struggled with the same problems as I did and needed help taking their power back.

I turned my pain into purpose and created Poshly Dressed. I now have styling services called Get Dressed that allow me to assist women in getting dressed daily.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Posh Modeling LLC and Poshly Dressed?
I am a social worker, model coach, and style coach. I instill confidence in individuals through modeling, fashion, and life skills. As a model coach, I provide training and opportunities to aspiring models that lead to any career in the industry. As a style coach, I provide products and services to women who are ready to walk in their purpose and take their power back. I assist offer inspiration, shopping sprees, and wardrobe makeovers. My services are available to women who have allowed past trauma, lack of resources, and failures to take control of their lives.

My journey alone sets me apart from others. I simply utilize my experience to make a difference in the lives of those I assist. I have been in your shoes and it’s time for us to walk together, but first let’s get dressed!

I am a firm believer that when you discover what you want in life and get dressed for that lifestyle daily, you can truly live a life of happiness. I didn’t always have my life together, but with the perfect outfit, I was able to walk with my head high and my standards higher because I knew exactly where I was going. We tend to allow others to control our lives when we lack confidence and direction, that ends today!
