Daily Inspiration: Meet Christina Blackmon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Blackmon.

Christina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m from Cincinnati Oh, I started doing my own hair and I was naturally good. Eventually, I was doing every little girl’s hair (my age). While our moms visit each other or at school (I was the ponytail goddess)!

As I got older, I didn’t take it seriously at all until I moved to Texas! This move was so big and so drastically different. The style was just not the same, especially the hair. Some styles weren’t even known yet.

I went to Lake Highlands HS and by real miracle, Cosmetology was an option for extra classes required. Whereas at home it wasn’t it wasn’t even an offered in HS.

After I taught myself how to braid on a mannequin it’s was up! Everyone wanted me to do they’re hair, even guys recommend me to girls in the school.

It actually took me a while to get my license only because I thought I would fail! So, I studied, the book and online test. Finally, I went and I passed with a perfect score the testers asked had I been there before 🙂

After assisting & working alongside the elite & hottest stylist in Dallas I now do VIP & Celebrity clients! They’re either recommended to me or they simple find me. Today I’m on to business beyond the chair. Developing companies such as Diamond Stash Empire!

Inspired by years of styling and knowing what I want for my clients I will be releasing various tools, accessories, and necessities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road definitely wasn’t smooth I like to say it built be ford tough. Some things are literally traumatizing, but I look at where I came from and I push for the reality I can create.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Celebrity & VIP Hairstylist! I specialize in healthy hair styling. I’m mostly known for my neat and lasting braids. I’m most proud of my results. All my clients have long and healthy hair that continues to grow. My style sets me apart and the fact that I educated my clients and I really put love into the hair! You don’t rush a masterpiece!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Network is a must it’s exciting for the soul. Your value is now adored vs not appreciated or even understood. It’s important to surround yourself with experienced and advanced people within your field. Even neighbors like models, clothing designers & photographers. It’s life!!
