Today we’d like to introduce you to Deven Billingslea.  

Hi Deven, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Moved from Michigan 2011 Former athlete and entertainer 

I’ve been an outside sales professional since before I completed college. 

Never have been able to truly buy into anyone else’s business. I would do well for a while because of talent but eventually, fade due to motivation outside of money. I’ve always wanted to be an individual and see myself as something special lol. 

I’ve tried lots of different industries which I feel have equipt me and given me the confidence that I can achieve anything. 

I started a canvassing company during the pandemic like as soon as it hit because construction picked up. I was able to obtain roofing clients quickly and started traveling for storms. So, I decided to learn roofing from another local contractor. History repeated itself I could only help him for so long before I wanted to do it my own way. 

So, I started my own roofing company where I’m at now. As I continue to learn and grow, I am figuring out better ways to do business that fits me and I feel like I’m on path to achieve my goal. Which is to be an industry disrupter. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Customers aren’t honest buyers are liars lol Finding good help that you can trust it doesn’t happen the first time. You have to go through it 

Material shortages and price gouging and adjusting the customer’s mind 

Gaining customers’ trust, Dallas is an open market for construction and lots of thieves. 

I myself had a good heart and would never purposely deceive a homeowner and just want to get paid to do what I say I’m going to do. 

You want them to understand that but depending on their personality type it takes work and time 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do insurance restoration work I have a good understanding of the process and have developed good resources to help my customers achieve their home improvement goals. 

I have a good idea for what roofing shingles go with their home 

I have some ideas on making homes uniquely beautiful with some signature copper flashing just need more customers to jump on board. 

What I truly specialize in though is creating relationships quickly and plan to capitalize on that 

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’m going to continue to grind and try to shake up the industry. I’m going to have as much integrity as the industry allows and they can believe me when I tell them something the first time
