Check Out Kami Renee’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kami Renee.

Hi Kami, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started as a bassist traveling across all coast backing artist in all genres for a decade. Branched out to producing and becoming my own artist and released my first project “Sophisticated Soul” in 2019. Released my second project “Entire Vibe” in 2020 in which Track 1 “The Chill Anthem” was featured on a mixtape curated by Grammy award-winning artist/writer Tank. Released my latest project this year “NEXT” where I plan to travel and continue to spread love, good vibes, and good music as far as it’ll take me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting out it was rather hard finding someone to produce my records. I was low on money and couldn’t afford the people I wanted until a light bulb went off that I could possibly produce myself. Purchased a cheap laptop and start-up kit and I’ve been surprising myself ever since.

The pandemic also caused its own set of challenges. My music started to do extremely well in the UK and I planned on flying out to perform and the pandemic came. Those plans went out the window. Some great music came out of the downtime so it worked out.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in all things musical. Being a female musician and producer in my community is a rarity. I take great pride in being a solid musician and an artist who was able to find my sound using the tools I learned through the years.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I spent a lot of time finding myself. I explored what I like and what I wanted to do. Sometimes we don’t realize that we are already equipped before finding a mentor and networking. It makes it so much easier to utilize the connections and networks when you know yourself and what you want.
