Lauren, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started making my All-Natural Body Moisturizers and Body Scrubs in Fall/ Winter of 2015 in my mother’s kitchen. I decided to make my products a brand which is where “Silky Radiance” comes in and launched my business to the public in May of 2016! I just celebrated 6 years in business May 18th, 2022! I am originally from Raleigh, NC, and decided to take a huge leap and move to DFW, TX in February 2020. Since then, I have seen significant growth of my company! I just opened up my very FIRST store in Hurst, TX! My Grand Opening was May 14th, 2022! I have felt so many emotions this year and I am definitely ready for all that my future has in store for me and my business!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been easy, and being an entrepreneur is NO easy task! There are always struggles because every single week is so different in so many ways. Especially when you’re running your business all by yourself! It definitely can be hard to adapt to sudden changes and I have definitely learned to adjust over the years! I feel like the most challenging part is not being able to be in two or even three places at the same time! Running a product-based business requires A LOT of RUNNING ERRANDS! God, forbid you forget something while you were out and you STILL have to push yourself and work! I really don’t have a lot of help being that I am out here in TX alone for the most part! I know that I prefer working alone but I also know that in order to grow to the heights I am destined to reach I have to have help! Trusting people is hard, being blindsided by unexpected expenses is hard… But I always stay true to my vision and I know that my purpose definitely keeps me driven!

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see the Beauty Industry blowing up even more than it already has! It is so much information in the Beauty Industry and it’s constantly changing! Making Quality Handmade products is what I pride myself in and being able to bring healthy skin care to my communities!
