Daily Inspiration: Meet Eric Burns

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Burns.

Hi Eric, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Eric Burns, me I was born in Tyler, Texas, I currently live west of Houston, Texas. I’m married with 4 children; I served and protected my country in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Gulf War and Honorably discharged serving 5 years. Traveling all over the world three times by air, four times by sea. Years later, God protected me once again this time from Coronavirus, during the pandemic and the Texas rolling blackout. February of 2021 where I found myself laying in a hospital bed feeling that I was dying but kept the desire to live and fight. And rehabilitation to learn to walk again, living and given a third chance at live to tell my harrowing ordeal and the after-effects of the illness that my body has suffered!!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The book-wise making the hard decision not to go to college but instead go to the U.S Navy. Going through a very demanding boot camp. Surviving the Gulf War coming back from that, returning to the United States with my first-born daughter having to fight for her getting the FBI involved at the same time my mother is dying of cancer!! Returning to serve traveling the world and serving on a drug task force. Then Years later catching Covid-19 having two lung surgeries and almost dying twice in this, with the motivation to maintain and fight!!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Yes!!! My book is a combination of many things we all go through, but to answer your question my life is complex being around the world many times, have fought in wars as a soldier and a citizen also the drug war in Panama. Inventing things very creative also being NCCCO certified and traveling all over the United States running cranes as my life profession as a citizen. That is what I was doing before I got sick with covid, I have truly come, saw, and conquered!!!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
EVERYONE THAT I HAVE EVER MET!!! But most my mom and dad, my cousins their parents. Teachers, coaches, classmates, friends!! Boot camp chain of command, shipmates. My first wife Kim, my second wife Venetta, and my kids Brooke, Breaden, Eric Jr. Dereon!!! And the ALL-MIGHTY Yahweh to which I would NOT be here!!!
