Conversations with Rachel Teichman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Teichman.

Hi Rachel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I realized how many bagels my family was eating! I have always liked coming up with ABC lists and have always wanted to write a children’s book, and I realized I could make an ABC list of bagels.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Tapering down the list was hard for some letters, and finding something for a coupon letter was challenging too. Getting all the bagels together was a challenge, but also fun to visit all of the local shops. I was lucky to get so many from The Bagel Shop Bakery.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I like sharing recipes and crafts with families. I am glad to get to help teach kids the ABCs in their path to reading and to share a love of bagels with all families. I love hearing about people trying the recipes too.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
My publisher The Collective Book Studio has been instrumental in getting the book published and supporting the idea from the beginning. My photographer Rebecca Wright made the photo process go so smoothly too. The Sunny La La approached me about merch, and I wouldn’t have such cool stuff without them. Instagram as a whole is an inspiring place including connections with The Brooklyn Bagel Blog and With Love from Ima.
