Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Worthington.
Hi Dustin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in a small town in Wyoming, very involved in my hometown and surrounding communities. I enjoyed athletics throughout my childhood and eventually played football and competed in track & field in college. Later, I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.S. in Kinesiology & Health Promotion in 2015. During that time, I personally sought chiropractic care for my performance in the classroom and on the field. I took a leap of faith and moved to Texas by myself in 2015 where I attended Parker University in Dallas, TX. In December of 2018, I graduated with my Doctor of Chiropractic degree, a B.S. in Anatomy, and lastly a B.S. in Health and Wellness. I did my internship/residency with Dr. Jesse Jacobs in north Fort Worth and eventually worked under his mentorship for about 2.5 years. Fast forward to June of 2021 we opened Free Form Chiropractic West 7th and began changing the lives of this Fort Worth community. I absolutely love it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wish it was a smooth road! You always think you have a plan and it seems to always take a detour. I’m a big family guy, so stepping away from my family has been a struggle since I moved to Texas but they know that I’m doing what I love. Going from school to treating patients day-to-day, dealing with different insurance companies, different attorneys, different business opportunities/relationships, and managing the office/patients and different employees. You are often faced with many challenges every day but you don’t really know until you are in it. I think embracing the struggles and looking back has been a huge learning opportunity.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Doctor of Chiropractic. I focus on movement of the joints, specifically within the spine, and correcting the curves in our spine. I also focus on strengthening areas around the spine specifically the posterior chain. I’m most proud of the team we have at Free Form Chiropractic West 7th. We were recently voted the number 1 chiropractic office in Fort Worth in 360 West Magazine for 76107 and we haven’t been open for even a year. We have relationships with multiple medical doctors, osteopaths, and neurologists for the sole purpose of getting people better. We also educate our community for what health truly is and how they can think different, eat better, and move better.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The first word that came to my mind after reading that question was resilience, and it was immediate. Resilience is basically how you react to adversity or withstand stressful, difficult situations. You will have many great days, but you will also have obstacles every step of the way and your reaction will ultimately decide what happens from your situation. My mentor taught me a formula that I will keep with me forever. He told me E + R = O. What that means is whatever Event plus your Reaction will equal your Outcome. The only thing you can control from that formula is your Reaction and that will often define your Outcome.
