Conversations with Amber Traylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Traylor.

Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Everything in life is a journey, I started out like most with a few bumps in the road or maybe a lot of bumps, lol.

I went years just going with the flow of life but never really understood my true purpose. I worked many corporate jobs after finishing college and followed the path that made the most sense especially for the so-called stability of life, which went on for over 15 years.

Fast forward to 2016, life came crashing down where I wasn’t in a good place with a lot of personal issues. I had to leave a toxic situation which resulted in me buying my first home. Most consider it a happy time but not for me at the moment due to certain circumstances. I questioned myself a lot during this time and had to think of what would happiness ever look like to me?

I always loved looking at homes. As soon as I got my driver’s license I would drive around neighborhoods and explore. With everything going on, it was so therapeutic for me. Years later I realized I was missing that feeling of driving around in excitement, just watching homes and decided to pursue being a Real Estate Agent. Yes, it was a chaotic time but I knew I was missing something….

Taking those online classes ended up being fun. My mom and dad would even ask me questions about the classes, it was like a fun quiz for me, and I think they both realized this may be something their daughter could do! A couple months later I passed the state exam and that was the start of my side hustle as leaving Corporate America was never an option.

One of my best friends gave me my first deal back in 2017. I had no clue on what I was doing, but I wanted to help her as she just lost her stepdad and needed to sell their property.

After a few years into the game, that feeling of wanting to help and serve your community has never left. In fact it gets stronger and stronger as you meet more people who are in need.

Real Estate has saved my life. As I reflect back in time, Real Estate was a side hobby at first by just helping my friends and family. In 2020, with being in the middle of a pandemic and still not quite living my life purpose, I knew it was time for a big change and to finally step out on faith. I left Corporate America and pursued it full time…

The brokerage I am at, Century 21 Mike Bowman, Mike and Dave kept encouraging me that I could do it even when I did not believe it myself. They even gave me a coach Jeane Dees who is the Sr VP at the Brokerage, little did I know how much she would pour into my life and be so important to me.

Fast Forward to present day, I am one of the Top Producers at the brokerage. I made it to number 10 out of 200 agents. It is such an honor, because these agents are amazing and have many years of success.

I have found my purpose that I was searching for so many years and being able to serve my community is such a blessing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No one tells you how hard it is to start a business.

When you become a Real Estate Agent no one gives you business, it is 100% commission and you must find your own clients!! The TV shows are fun to watch but it’s not real life, lol. It takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice.

Also, you will have losses which I call lessons… it’s part of your seasoning (my dad’s favorite word of advice to me).

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a licensed Real Estate Agent in the State of Texas. I help people sell, buy and invest in Real Estate. My business is referral based and I have helped a few people in my community achieve the dream of home ownership. One of the things my coach says is, “I am tenacious and I never give up”, so I take those same skills when working with my clients.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My qualities that attribute to my success would definitely be empathy and being a problem solver.
I do my best to understand my clients needs and finding a house can be a difficult in this current market. I have found success in coming up with different solutions for my clients.
