Hi Burgundy, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, I am Burgundy Royster, I got into the Tax Industry in 2017. I use to be an employee for Turbo Tax, and that’s when I got introduced into the 1040 Tax returns. I use to pray to God for him to help me figure out what I am good at. I then started working for this company called Thomas financial LLC. Shatonya Thomas is the one that brought me under her wing. I got excellent in it and then I branched off in 2019…. I got married in 2019 and I needed a name that’s how I came up with the name Granted Tax Service…. My husband’s last name is Grant. (Lol) I went from having literally one client in 2019 now I have over 200 plus clients. I made over 6 figures this year and this is my 3rd year running my office. I love what I do, and I love helping people get the credits that they deserve.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting my business was not easy, I barely had the money to pay for the classes that I needed to take. I had to work overtime at my current job which is Texas Instruments. The support of my husband as well. I then saved money up to be able to pay for my classes that I needed in order to be a tax preparer. The road hasn’t been easy but it has gotten smoother. now I can afford what I need to expand my business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is a Tax Preparation here in Dallas TX. My business offers credit repair, software, apps, and basically what it’s called a Service Bureau program. I have some more things added to my company but it’s not ready to be released just yet. Myself and my team go over and beyond for our clients. I’m always a phone call away. I am looking to expand all over Dallas and other states. I am very proud of my brand because it’s built off of generosity. We care about the community. We help with rent and school supplies. We also feed the homeless. Most importantly me and my team are very educated on Tax Laws. We also defend our clients in the Tax court if possible. I also offer one on one sessions for customers that want to learn how to file their own taxes and doesn’t like to pay tax preparation fees. You will also get a lifetime mentorship with that program for only 125.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
How to treat my employee, I have to let my team and my clients know without them there is no me.
