Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Torres-Ramirez.
Hi Melissa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been working in catering for 18 years. I have been completely on my own for about 10 years. I have a few different businesses. I am a caterer, and event planner, I decorate and make dessert tables. I prepare taxes. I also sell adult toys and women’s lingerie. My love for food started when I was 7 years old in my great-grandmother’s kitchen. She was making us breakfast and the look on her face just intrigued me. She always was happy when she cooked baked and served our family. I wanted that happiness and that feeling. All of businesses involve helping people and making them happy.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been struggles. It definitely has taken me a while to become organized and to learn that I can’t always say yes. There have been people who have taken advantage of me. Sometimes the investment was greater than the compensation for my work.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I cater, decorate, bake, prepare taxes, and run a company selling adult toys and lingerie. I’m known for being hard working. I’m most proud of being an honest businesswoman. I think what sets me apart from others is everything I do is authentic and homemade. I do not see anyone else as competition. I believe in my work and love supporting other entrepreneurs.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
