Today we’d like to introduce you to Chell
Hi Chell, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a small feeble child, the divine spirit of music had called out to me. Through the power of rock and roll I was able to channel the energy I felt into my guitar. Very soon I began writing and singing songs about the bizarre world that moved around me. Discrepant uploads of these strange singles are scattered across the internet, some good and some bad. After a few years of being alone, I found some friends to play with. I first met Chase, our guitarist, in the plastic jungle of public school. His excellence in theatre and shared interest in rock music made him a great fit for the band. Spencer, our bassist, seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, like a wandering spirit in search for place to express his funky tones and rhythms. For some time, it was only the three of us. though we sounded good, we knew we were missing an integral percussive element. Our wishes were granted when an old friend of mine, Tyler came forth and joined the cause as a drummer. We have come together to share with you our efforts and musical discoveries. You will behold new sensations you have never felt before, and see sights beyond that which currently exist. Join us and truly feel what it means to be alive.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are many forces acting against us, trying to slow us down, but we cannot be stopped. Political agents have threatened to blacklist our music from the mainstream public, and religious zealots have protested our poetry numerous times. The music we’ve created is not for the simple-minded. Your ideas will be challenged and your morals will be questioned. Only the cowardly are against our music. Those who are afraid to examine themselves and admit they might be wrong do not want us to prevail. They are fearful that their deepest doubts will surface, and their true selves will show. We reach out to all those who aren’t afraid to think freely and question everything, including themselves. Unfortunately, those who actually possess this quality of mind are a minority.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Our labor is aimed at creating beautiful music. Music that targets the soul and mind. The end goal is to share with you what we have discovered as being hidden in this mysterious world of ours. Countless hours have been spent organizing the ideal notes, realizing the best bass lines, and pounding out the perfect rhythms. What we possess is an army of sound, ready to free all those who are willing to listen. If one pays attention closely, they will also find poetry. Poetry is a wild beast, difficult to tame, but just as horses and oxen have been domesticated, so too is the poetry found in our songs. Hopefully, the individual will be able to understand the countless references in the words and understand them in the way that they are intended to be understood. However, we are well aware that most will not understand the meanings of our lyrics, and that’s OK. No bad will come from the failure to truly understand our intentions.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I find that the best readings around are those found within the genres of fiction, history, and philosophy. A few notable books are the “Nicomachean Ethics”, by Aristotle “The Republic” by Plato, “Beyond Good and Evil” by Fredrick Neichze, and “The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things” by JT Leroy. You will find many of the themes in these books within our catalogue of music.
