Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Prince.
Alex, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was stuck in a 2-year long depression from 2019 to the end of 2020. Until one day I decided I would no longer live like that. I believe that change is instant but the results of change take time. I decided that I would document my journey of climbing out of the hole I had dug myself in. Primarily to hold myself accountable and so that if I were to ever find myself in that mental space again, I would have a blueprint to refer to get out of it again. As I posted these videos on Tik Tok starting in November of 2021, many people began to resonate with my content because at the end of the day we’re all on some type of journey. I grew my following pretty quickly and am honored to carry the responsibility of inspiring others. From there I began the movement of “Misunderstood” which has now taken the shape of a clothing brand. With 5 instant sell-out releases, we are set to become the fastest-growing independent clothing brand of the year.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been everything but smooth but nothing that’s worth having comes easy in life. I decided to go all-in on building the brand which required quitting the corporate world, so there were many financial struggles starting out. Constant mental warfare, personal life struggles. We can’t control the situations we find ourselves in, but we can always control our perspective of it. That sort of epitomizes the message behind the brand. All of the struggles I’ve faced have contributed to my personal growth and the growth of the brand.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Content creator. I’ve been creating content since I was 18 and that was my first passion. My passion for fashion led me to choose clothing as the medium of expression for the message. I am also known for owning “Misunderstood”, I now have revolutionized the game by combining the 2 to complement each other. I am most proud of my consistency. Inconsistency had always been my downfall in life, and after remaining consistent it’s gratifying to see the results from it and how quickly life can change for you.
I think what sets me apart is that I always remain true and honest to my “why”. The purpose behind everything I do, every decision I make. My favorite mantra that has gotten me this far is “Purpose over preference”.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I try not to label my situations as they occur. A lot of the situations I’ve come across seem so misfortunate in the present moment, but in hindsight vision is 20/20. I look back and realize I had “Misunderstood” the blessing in disguise in every situation. It seems like there is always something going wrong but I believe it’s to test you to see how bad you really want what you say you do.
