Conversations with D’Maric Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to D’Maric Moore.

Hi D’Maric, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I met Vito (the artist I manage) through a mutual friend almost 3 years ago. It’s crazy because we both don’t speak to him anymore due to a falling out. We three were originally trying to do music together but since things went south with him It’s just always been me and Vito. I was trying to do R&B music at the time so we would go back and forth and share either ideas or share what we have written to a new beat. This was when we really started growing the brotherhood we have now.

I’m gonna be honest and say over time I wasn’t happy with how my music was coming out. Vito always produced good quality music and I admired that so much. His unique sound and use of lyricism is what I feel to be unmatched in the city of Dallas. I really thought his music should be heard because he delivers such a powerful and soulful message through his music. I was really nervous on asking him of what his thoughts of me being his manager would be. I never wanted it to seem like I wanted control over him because Vito is a HIGHLY independent man that doesn’t really care for authority. Plus, I was thinking if that would cause a rift between the brotherhood we have. I eventually brought it up to him and amazingly he said he wouldn’t mind. Then boom that’s when things started rolling. I made it my mission to push his music as much as I could. I reconstructed my Instagram page as like a media page for Vito. I showed him different studios, engineers, and producers to go to. I networked as best as I could and so, I ended meeting “Shraban” who’s a Dallas artist/engineer/A&R/ producer. I believe he’s an A&R for the famous upcoming R&B artist “Deegatti”. I went to deegatti’s first live performance and got to meet Deegatti and Shraban. I was so nervous to pitch Vito’s music to him but I built up the courage to pull him aside and talk about Vito’s music. That was a very surreal moment to be face to face with a guy who’s been successful and worked with many great artists. I was proud of myself after that moment bc I realized I was making tremendous progress in managing in general, while helping out my brother Vito.

Vito got booked for a show in Brooklyn, New York on April 2nd of this year. It was great opportunity to see New York alongside Vito. It was like we were on vacation but yet we were still handling business. The people of Brooklyn were great and I was excited for them to see what the south has to offer. We made great connections out there and look forward to going back eventually.

Recently Vito has dropped an EP called “Pre-Game” which is an EP my cousin(@s3_theproducer) produced entirely. Then he dropped an album called “Transition” which was dropped on June 2nd. We love the results we have been seeing from the project and also we love the progress we have made in the long run. He’s also collabed on a hit song song called “FBGM” with the rappers “Donkapo” and “Dreforswah”. The song was entered into a Dj Khaled contest and is still currently doing crazy numbers. You’ll see Vito’s name everywhere soon, trust me!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Life does get in the way obviously so things do slow down. I’ve gotten involved with some very unprofessional people that’s slowed progress. I and Vito both work a 9-5 and the music industry is expensive plus doing everything independently with no label to push you makes things harder. Especially being an underground artist in Dallas. Sadly, the people in Dallas don’t collaborate with one another which makes the music scene in Dallas hardly shine. Some people don’t even know that Dallas was one of the biggest jazz music scenes back in the 60s. Dallas has a lot of musical background and I would love to see that spotlight back in Dallas and I believe Vito can help with that.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
While I’m not advertising Vito. I work at the benchmark hotel resort in Westlake, Tx. The job has taught me to be more social and really understand what great customer service is. It has made me a better manager, your character is everything if you want to manage someone. Your literally walking customer service whenever you’re networking in the music industry. If people don’t like your character and how you treat them then they won’t work with you.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is something that brings you peace in whatever that may be. I believe money is not success but it’s what you do with that money that determines your success within yourself, not for others. Everyone has heard stories of someone working a job that pays extremely well but the actual person themself may not be happy. the person probably thought money would mean success instead of doing something they truly loved regardless of the income. Moving freely as I want around the world to eat good food while connecting with different cultures is success to me. I don’t have a high-paying job to do that, it may help but I don’t “need” it.
