Today we’d like to introduce you to Isata Webster.
Isata, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey at the University of Central Florida. I decided to major in Business because I knew it was always a passion of mine to get into the fashion business industry. I joined a business fraternity in 2019, Alpha Kappa Psi. Along the process, I met many like-minded individuals and even some mentors. They helped me to realize I did not only need to pursue one goal in a lifetime but to keep trying to reach my dreams. I graduated in 2021 with my degree in Bachelor’s of Science in Integrated business. About 6 months after graduation, I landed an Accountant position with fashion companies Kate Spade and COACH. I am very happy with this current position, as I believe it is a stepping stone to get me to the position in the fashion industry I always dreamt of. Another goal of mine I learned throughout my college journey is that I have a passion for real estate which is one of the main reasons I moved to Dallas move. The market here is booming and with the massive growth comes surplus opportunities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With all great stories comes struggle. I will say I am very blessed to have the life that I do and I would not change it for the world. But there were some bumps along the road. One of the major struggles in my life was growing up with a sibling with disabilities. My younger brother has Down syndrome, a disability that renders him from having what one can consider a “normal” life. Growing up with my mom as a single mother there were a lot of times I had to be a parent for him. It taught me a lot of responsibility at a young age as well as gave me the passion to work hard because I know one day, I will be the sole provider he looks up to. It has always been a struggle to leave my brother when I had to for college, or even now taking a leap of faith and moving to Dallas. It has been one of the hardest decisions ever but I do it for him. I do everything for my family I love them very much and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work for Tapestry, specifically the Kate Spade and Coach departments as an Account Specialist. My specialty includes for finding issues in the accounts and figuring out a solution. What sets me apart from others is my drive and determination to succeed in any field I put my mind to.
What matters most to you? Why?
