Hidden Gems: Meet Jayson Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayson Johnson.

Hi Jayson, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello everyone my name is Jayson Johnson and I am a 25-year-old Published model that has an agency here in Dallas, Los Angelos, and Chicago. I randomly started doing modeling in undergrade at Angelo State University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and minored in Biology in 2015. I randomly got interested in modeling my sophomore year of college because I always loved being in front of the camera. I in general love pictures because they tell a story and will hold a memory of that day and time. While I was in college, I just did local photoshoots with photographers because I always believed in school coming first, and if I have time on the side, I would do modeling since it was fun. After graduating in May of 2019 after that summer I moved to Dallas, Texas to start my Doctorate Chiropractic program; which is a vigorous 3.5 year- around program. I had to pause a little bit on the modeling but when Covid struck the world in 2020 it forced some of our programs online which allowed me to pick back up on modeling when I recognized my talent and decided to get serious and I went and got offered my first contract with the Dragonfly Agency! That summer things picked up quickly by getting featured in GQ magazine; which was one of my top goals to accomplish with modeling. Doing modeling and graduate school has been a challenge but I make it work because I enjoy doing it. We are now in 2022 and I’m in my clinical portion of school accepting patients in the Parker University clinic, with one trimester left meaning ill graduate and be Dr. Johnson come December! I wouldn’t be where I am today without GOD and some of the friends and family that have been there through all of the struggles of life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I won’t go into too much detail for this portion other than to say that if you have a dream or trying to find a purpose in life don’t allow others to bring you down. There will be lot of no’s and maybe very little yes’s, but don’t let that bring your spirits down because if you put forth the effort then you can achieve a lot more than you may think. I will say that I came from literally nothing in my younger years; lol I am still a broke graduate student but in 6months that will change. Also, make sure to hold onto your true self if you plan to pursue modeling because this industry can be overwhelming mentally and physically.

As you know, we’re big fans of modeling. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I spoke briefly about what how I was featured in GQ; which was my biggest accomplishment with modeling. The issue that was in focus was the release of the Akira live-action jacket so give it a look online which is for the Anime fanatics that may be reading this. Some other companies that I’ve done work with is JCPENNY, Papa Murphy’s, Kay Jewelers, etc…
