Inspiring Conversations with Tatiana Jones-Waldon of The Salad Trap

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Jones-Waldon.

Hi Tatiana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am elated and humbled by sharing The Salad Traps’ origin and background. I always had a passion for cooking. I grew up watching my grandfather cook huge meals for our family, and everything would be from scratch. Watching him chop, dice, and slice everything from fresh for meals, shaped part of the woman and business owner I am today. I started my salad business in the summer of 2021, wanting to bring fresh meals to my community. It’s funny because The Salad Trap started off with another name at first. But I knew I had to change the name once our popularity grew so fast. We “trap” you with our fresh ingredients to keep coming back.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has its ups and downs. The cost of fresh produce and ingredients increasing was a challenge at first. Also, people don’t realize that I run the business myself. So, I am the cook manager, run all of our social media handles and etc. by myself. Sometimes people who are on the outside looking in want to portray you as being “superwoman” when simply I am a woman executing her goals and living in her purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Salad Trap. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Salad Trap is a business offering fresh made to order meals. Such as build your own salads which is the most popular item on our menu. We have several different toppings and dressings you can choose from. We also offer other items such as homemade queso, adult launchable, and more. We set us apart from others is the unique quality we have. We also engage and get to know our customers who eventually become regulars. People choose us for their fresh food experience because we deliver just that, fresh food each and every time.

How do you define success?
Success is sticking to your plan. Make a plan, and do whatever it takes to achieve your goal. Sometimes we don’t realize our purpose in life because we never started with a plan. You have to have structure in order to achieve success.
