Daily Inspiration: Meet Martha Barajas


Today we’d like to introduce you to Martha Barajas.
 

Hi Martha, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well 24 years ago I started working for a synagogue church as a waitress and kitchen help cooking and preparing fruit trays, I learned and gained a lot of experience there I’m still working for them when they need me. So, in 2015 I decided to start my business making fruit trays and fruit tables for events like graduations, baptisms, Quinceanera’s, weddings, and all kinds of events. Later on 2019, I formed my first waitress team with my daughter who was 15, and my sister we start working at the events serving the guest and people liked it so I get more calls from people to need it our service, I took classes to be a bartender and get my TABC certificate and serve alcoholics drinks so my business grow more we have events almost every weekend and now we are 12 waitress and 4 bartenders ( our bartenders are specialist in Mix drinks and our best drink is Cantaritos is a Mexican drink make it with Tequila, fresh orange juice, pineapple juice, squirt, chamoy, Tajín, and lemon and we serve in a special cup from Mexico that is made from a clay pot, we are able to go all the metroplex and some other towns like Weatherford, Justin, Joshua, Godley, Denton, Irving, and Dallas. We are a Hispanic family business ready to serve you. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like all businesses sometimes we struggle in the middle of the pandemic our business went down a little bit, and there were no parties for around 3 or 4 months because the city closed everything but we trust in God that everything is going to come back ok and now we are so busy. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am so proud of all my workers, we are a good team, and we have a lot of communication before each event because our priority is to make our clients happy with the service we do to their guest 

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I would like to make my business grow more and have more opportunities for jobs for more people. 

Pricing:

  • Waitress service is like $30 to $35 x hour
  • Bartender service is around $40 to $45 x hr
  • Fruit tables start at $350 for 100 people
  • The chocolate fountain table starts at $550
