Check Out Madhur Mehta’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madhur Mehta.

Hi Madhur, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I have come from a humble background in India. A middle-class boy with lots of dreams and hurdles to fulfill them. With a motive to do something for the family and make situations and circumstances better, I started my journey. With limited financial resources, I depended on different scholarships and financial aid from schools and colleges. I finished school as Topper and got into one of the most prestigious universities in India. After completing Chemical Engineering from there, I worked as an engineer before getting into Business School to pursue MBA. MBA changed me as a person. A shy, introverted boy who was afraid to speak has become confident.

I was part of the prestigious committee where I learned about professional etiquette. 2-year MBA journey taught me different things. From there, I got into one of the biggest corporate organizations and worked there for almost 3.5 years. I realized that I needed to upgrade myself and add more skills to my portfolio, and that’s how I decided to pursue a Master’s in the USA. I was supposed to come in 2020, but due to covid, I didn’t get a visa slot and had to defer my admission to Fall 2021. Finally, on the 13th of August 2021, I landed here and embark on a big milestone in my journey. I got Dean’s Excellence Scholarship and became a member of the Leadership Council, where I got the chance to help current and prospective students. I am currently interning with a San Francisco-based company and am ready to take on a new semester.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it was not a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was Finances. I was not sure until what point I could continue my studies, but somehow with the scholarships and financial aid, I pulled it off and currently pursuing a third degree. Another big hurdle was when I was unable to speak properly, people used to make fun of me, and I lost my confidence, but I didn’t stop and kept on progressing no matter how slow I kept going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently pursuing a master’s at the University of Texas Dallas in Business Analytics. I have done MBA in marketing. Currently, I am interning with a San Fransisco Based company. I am good with people and networking. I have helped many students in their journey by guiding them with the process as well as helping them in settling in. I didn’t get much help when I came here, so I know the struggle.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Dallas is warming; people are so welcoming and helpful. I don’t like the weather.
