Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Gerner.
Hi Erin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! I am Erin. A former attorney turned life coach for women in the law. I am also a Dallas resident, mom to 2 awesome daughters Merrian and Caroline and wife to my husband of nearly 15 years, Nick.
Following graduation from the University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill, I headed straight to law school. I was never the woman who always dreamt of being a lawyer however. My parents always told me I liked to argue. I loved and excelled in school and I wanted to help others. My thought process was, “If I don’t know what I want to do, I’ll go find myself in law school.” I laugh now at my young, inexperienced 22-year-old mind talking.
I loved law school and excelled, graduating at the top of my class. I practiced for nearly 8 years (a combination of big law and in-house) and came to realize that the high pressure, often toxic, high expectation, no work-life balance environment was not serving me. I had also recently become a mom, and unfortunately, the atmosphere of my job at the time was, “do you want to be a lawyer, or do you want to be a mom?” I chose to be a mom, and I walked away. I wish I could tell you that it felt great to be able to walk away and stay home with my little girl (yes, I was grateful) but the shame, guilt, and loss of identity that went along with that transition was something that would be a large part of my personal journey of self-discovery and ultimately lead me to launch Erin Gerner Coaching.
Following the birth of our second daughter our family was forced to rebuild financially. It was one of the lowest and darkest points of my life, but it was also time to take a hard look inward and get honest with myself about who I was and what I wanted. I started to work on ME for the first time in my life.
It has been through my own journey of self-discovery and love for inspiring and empowering women that revealed my life’s passion and purpose of coaching and mentoring women to step into the highest and best versions of themselves. Specifically women in the law.
After I continued to encounter recovering attorney after recovering attorney and/or fellow woman in the law that was feeling burnt out, unhappy, and unfulfilled, my heart knew I could be of service. My experience both as an attorney and a life coach gives me a unique perspective and new way of thinking to offer my sisters in the law.
Today I am the CEO of Erin Gerner Coaching where my mission is to inspire and empower women in the law to gain clarity and awareness of their life’s purpose so they can live passionately and abundantly.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Both the self-discovery journey and that of becoming an entrepreneur are anything but smooth sailing. There have been countless tears, fears, and doubts. I have tried to quit on myself multiple times only to rehire myself the next day. lol. Social media shows the final product, the smiles, the wins. What it doesn’t show is the hard, the losses. I have battled crippling self-doubt, imposter syndrome, limiting beliefs, naysayers, parted ways with colleagues and friends, and fallen down more times than I can even count. But each time there has been a bump in the road, I dust myself off, remain grounded in self-belief and God’s purpose for me, and continue to show up not only for myself, but for the women I am meant to help.

Through 1:1 coaching, interactive firm/business power hours, and quarterly group coaching containers, Erin Gerner Coaching specializes in helping female attorneys discover a new way of thinking, giving them the permission slip to begin forming the laws of their life using my unique 5 pillars for growth. My mission is to help women gain clarity and awareness around the laws of their lives, and to teach tools, modalities and daily practices to help them not only WIN the day, but achieve the happiness, fulfillment and success they have been craving.
What makes you happy?
Nothing makes me happier than watching women WIN. Win in their life, win in their career, win in everything.
I am also madly in love with being a mom to my 2 incredible daughters. It is my honor and privilege to help raise them into strong, loving, servant-hearted leaders
