Hi Deborah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
The origin of Body and Mind Spa began when I was getting my master’s degree at UT Dallas. I realized it was the most stressed I’ve been in my entire life. It took a toll on me mentally, physically, and emotionally. It was then that I knew the importance of self-care so I decided to create an outlet for people to relax and unwind. I wanted to create a community that allows people to leave all their worries at home and pamper themselves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, in fact, it’s been very rocky. I struggled with finding a building to run my business for almost a year before finally securing one. Once I secured the lease, we had some financial struggles due to the fact that we are a startup business. It’s very difficult to grow when you don’t have the financial capability, but nevertheless, we are working as hard as we can to keep the business running.
As you know, we’re big fans of Body and Mind Spa. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a day spa that specializes in luxurious spa treatments, such as facials, dermaplaning, massage therapy, microdermabrasion, lash extensions, brow sculpting, and more. Our variety of services, affordable pricing, and store location gives us a competitive edge. I am most proud of the brand awareness we have achieved within our community thus far. I want readers to know that we strive to make everyone be the best versions of themselves and hope to continue to serve our community.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The best way to find a mentor is to build a relationship with the small business development center in your community. That was the best decision I made while starting my business and would definitely recommend that new business owners take advantage of those free resources.
