Today we’d like to introduce you to Addison LaBonte.
Addison, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After becoming gluten-free in 2016, I began to experiment with making gluten-free recipes. A few years into being gluten-free, I decided to start an Instagram where I posted all my recipes. Immediately people were really interested in my recipes and how to bake gluten-free recipes. In November 2018, I started a blog to house all my recipes. Over the past almost 4 years, I have published over 500 gluten-free recipes and amassed a following of over 100,000 on Instagram. The biggest growth happened in 2020 when everyone was forced to stay home and cook and bake. After an explosive year of growth, I decided to start treating my blog as a business. Instead of blogging and making recipes for fun, I pushed myself to create more recipes, reach more people, and log more page views on my website. It has been a challenging, humbling, and rewarding journey!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a pretty smooth road. In the beginning, I had no idea how to code a full website. Thankfully, it was so difficult that I was forced to hire a company to build a custom website for me. Since then, I have learned everything from Google and YouTube. I really enjoy learning, and learning how to build a business has been incredibly fulfilling. Being a small business owner has forced me to stay relevant, stay hungry and stay optimistic.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a gluten-free food blogger and content creator! I specialize in gluten-free baking, and I’m most known for my gluten-free cookies. Creating recipes is my passion. I love the science behind baking, all the different flavors, and baking for my friends and family. I am most proud of the fact that I was bold enough to dream big. Since then, I have worked incredibly hard to build this business. My view on cooking and baking is what sets me apart from others. I believe in creating easy, healthy, and delicious recipes that the whole family will love. So many memories are made through food! I am thrilled when I create recipes that people make for birthdays, holidays, and more.
What do you think about luck?
I do not believe in luck; I believe in God and in hard work. There is nothing lucky about pouring my heart and soul into my work. I am thankful that I had a medical diagnosis that forced me to become gluten-free. If not for that, I wouldn’t have my blog.
