Hi Gerald, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Life is about perspective. The way we view things either brings us motivation, or we allow circumstances to take control of us. I am Gerald Hearns, Founder & CEO of Brick by Brick Academy of Health & Wealth. I am also the creator of Power 3 Playbook blueprint that was inspired by a business coach that saw my vision. While sharing my goals, things I had been doing in the community, and my aspirations, the gentleman told me that I was more than a T-Shirt apparel guy. This fueled my mission to continue serving others. Our mission is to help you elevate in life. The grind from being a 2019 NFL Draft prospect to becoming a notable author has been a journey of perseverance.
I got to where I am at today with my business due to being open-minded, coachable, having a great support system, being faithful to the grind, and humble along the journey. Most importantly, people look at their losses as a downfall. My perspective has always been to learn what lesson is being taught from every situation good or bad. From those learning curves by me taking calculated risks has allowed me to launch the Power 3 Playbook. This manual is an introduction to our online business development training. This training is a community-driven, brick-by-brick platform anyone can use to develop and launch a successful online subscription-based business from anywhere. Success is when preparation meets opportunity.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Social media has a way of depicting the road to success to be a smooth road. Having access to so much information and opportunities becomes a blessing and a curse. Kevin Hart, living mogul, has a Netflix series called “True Story.” The first time that I watched that, I caught the chills and had tears bubble up. Coming from the environment I grew up around after my family and I moved after tragically losing my brother’s father changed my life forever. Being a guy that many depend on while building something from ground up can put you in situation where you feel like you have to have your guards up every moment. Everyone will not always have your best interest.
On the journey of success, many times, people may look at you as a commodity for their best interest. Before I became more self-aware of my value and began valuing my time even more, I struggled with trying to respond to every single text message and phone call. While playing sports and working my way up from 13th on the depth chart to one of the top positions, my time being a walk-on to earning a full scholarship at a D-1 university, I played around so many egotistical guys that I always wanted to make sure I did not become like that “acting like I am too good for people or on top of the world.” Even though I am greatly not like that, I had to distinguish how to respond to people who wanted something from me.
In addition, dealing with adversity of now losing over 62 people that I have known, were friends with, associates, and even family members to street violence or natural causes while trying to stay serene and level-headed became traumatic, anticipating every phone to be a bad one. When starting my vision of being an entrepreneur, I used the distractions, the adversity, and every challenge as motivation towards my journey to break through barriers and not settling.
