Meet Erika Capula

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Capula.

Hi Erika, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I began my career as a paralegal in Dallas, working for top law firms in the metroplex. One day I was having brunch with a friend who told me about her journey to becoming a full-time real estate agent. She floated the idea of me joining her brokerage. She made it seem so easy, and a few months later, I graduated from Champions Real Estate Agent School and got my license. During the first few months as an agent, I wasn’t sure how I would turn this into a full-time career. Three years later. I am eating, breathing, real estate. Working amongst some of the most experienced agents in Dallas. I am excited for what the future holds as they say the best is yet to come.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a mixture of smooth and bumping experiences, as with anything in life. This journey has been learning the business, becoming mentally more vigorous, and being fearless. For instance, I passed my real estate exam on the first try. Not many agents can say that, but without a business background, I had to learn things as I went along. I had to learn time management, task prioritization, and the nuances of being an entrepreneur. One of the lessons I learned along the way was to show up every day, whether you are having a good or a bad day. Being a realtor is a business, and it doesn’t run unless you do.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
If you were to interview any of my prior clients, they would tell you that I’m empathetic throughout the home-buying process. I understand how large of an undertaking this is — buying a home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. I take responsibility and great pride in being of service as an agent. I am there every step of the way. I specialize in helping my clients reach their real estate goals: from first-time homebuyers or seasoned investors looking to add to their portfolios. I utilize my knowledge, and if there’s something I don’t know, I will find an answer and a way to make it happen.

The biggest satisfaction comes from a client recognizing the effort behind the scenes during the home-buying process. Nothing gives me greater joy than seeing a client on closing day and the happiness on their faces as they step into a new chapter of their lives and the fact that I had something to do with that. It’s an indescribable feeling. I would say the biggest thing that sets me apart from others would be the authenticity that I have. I don’t fit the typical profile of a real estate agent, and that background story gives me a level of trust that homebuyers have in me.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Yes. I owe a debt of gratitude to many people who have helped me along my real estate journey. One is a personal friend and mentor who has kept me on the straight and narrow since I began. He calls me out when I make a mistake and praises me when I exceed his expectations. I am incredibly grateful to everyone on this wild ride of real estate. I am honored to work in such an excellent field with warm and caring people.
