Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary Anderson.
Hi Zachary, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have always been into drawing and the artistic side of life. Since I was a little kid, I would draw and doodle on any piece of paper I could get my hands on. The more I did it, the more creative they became and the better in got. I had a friend reach out to me on 2019 about doing some artwork for a t-shirt brand he was wanting to start up for skaters. We decided to go into business together and decided, why not skateboards too, and so Skucci Skateboards was born.
Starting out wasn’t easy, and there was a lot of hurdles along the way. Unfortunately, the friendship ended as we saw the company heading in different directions, but I knew Skucci hadn’t even begun to be seen at its full potential. I took over full control and ownership of the company in January of 2022 and set my goals as high as I could. Starting getting into markets and rebrand our name more to who i am. I knew how amazing this company could be, and I put in the work every day to get us to the top.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting Skucci off wasn’t smooth you could say, starting a new company with no experience, just the “want to”, and then Covid breaking out pretty much right after, it completely changed the landscape of the industry. The order minimums we had just gotten used to, increased and so did cost. Then the split of the company a couple of years later, and me having a rough year medically in 2020, I spent 3 days in acoma out of no where, but as of this year, we have seen steady growth, started doing pop-ups at markets all over DFW, and really caught a vibe with the community.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I kind of do a little bit of everything. Skucci started off as me hand painting decks. That was very time-consuming tho, and our quality of decks were poor. We got in with Clutch Distrabution, a major manufacturer in the industry, I found a guy in South Lake selling an iPad pro with a pencil. So, I quickly went and scooped that up, downloaded Procreate, and taught myself digital art. I’m still leaps and bounds from other people, but for being self-taught. I’ve come a long way. I now design shirts, decks, and even logos. The only thing you can do to set yourself apart from others is just be true to yourself and not like everybody else.
Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m really big on supporting local artist in any aspect. Shirt, sticker, decks, or whatever im down for a collab. Want get your misic out there? Lets put some skating to it! All it takes is you reaching out. Shoot me a Dm on Ig or Fb or an email at skucci.skateco@gmail.com,
