Exploring Life & Business with Jessica Graham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Graham.

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
In college, I was always a go-getter; I led a couple of organizations while balancing going to classes daily. After obtaining my degree in Pre-Law Political Science, I immediately started a career as a Case Clerk at the Prosecutor’s office. The intent was that I would go to law school and climb the corporate ladder. After 1 year in this position, I realized that entrepreneurship was going to be my best shot at living the lifestyle I knew I could live. In 2012, platforms like YouTube and Instagram displayed that if you could give people the content they wanted, you could make millions from just being yourself. That spoke to me. I quit my job and dove head-first into my own business as a freelance writer and business consultant. I wrote papers for college students and resumes for job seekers. I also assisted a doctor who owned his practice with administrative tasks while given the freedom to set my own schedule.

I began a business as an online marketplace when I was 23 years old. I learned the foundations of entrepreneurship through the many books I read, mentors I listened to into the wee hours of the morning, and the conferences I attended that developed me into the leader I needed to be. I was fortunate enough to build a team of 25 through coaching and training. I left that after a couple of years to relocate to the east coast. In Washington DC, I gained experience as a business analyst contracted for the Department of Homeland Security. I quickly missed the small business sector. Realizing governmental work wasn’t for me & due to wanting to be closer to family, I moved back south to Texas this time. There, I began a remote Sales position in Software Sales within 1 year’s time, I was Salesperson of the Quarter twice as well as started a business within the Financial Services industry.

Initially, It was just to restore my personal credit. After experiencing as 83-point increase in 60 days, I realized this would be an ideal way to promote a business and earn income while giving others the ability to do the same. Many items were removed, and my score increases later, I’ve been able to build a brand presence on Facebook catering to clients all over the United States. After changes in business, I began to offer business credit and funding assistance to aspiring business owners, start-ups & those who are seasoned looking to expand their business. Now, I am continuously helping business owners thrive in their own business ideas as well as maintain optimal health and wellness. I am excited to continue helping others bring out the greatness in themselves.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been full of twists and turns. I used to be a control freak. I wanted to know how every detail would work out. As I have continued on my journey, I realize just how silly that is to expect. Life is full of change! The best thing is to embrace it and get excited about it. The favorite word of an entrepreneur should be “Pivot” because owning it and knowing when to do it is key. We can’t get tied to the processes because they may change. The struggles have typically been those in my own mind. Covid-19 really rocked our world, especially me. Moving to Washington DC was exciting; after 3 weeks moved in being surprised by a global pandemic was terrifying. Nothing was certain. I began to let go of my need to control and accepted that I can’t predict the next moment so why try?

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve built a brand around my own name. My heart is to serve people to their highest self. The best way I’ve found to do that has been by teaching mindset & entrepreneurship. I am a new business owner’s bestie or someone who simply wants to overcome limiting beliefs. I take the role of a credit coach, a business advisor, and mindset coach for those who are looking to see the greatness within themselves; I motivate and push people to their best selves. I also offer the resources to do it. Those tools happen to include credit restoration, grants, funding, social media management, health, and wellness. I am proud to be a voice for those who need an example that it can be done. I believe the right mentor can change your life as those I have had have changed mine. I seek to guide more people to live higher quality lives as well as create spaces for them to do so and resources to make it happen.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I get nervous and scared just like everyone else. A lot of times, I find people see me as motivated, positive, consistent, and confident. I have a principled view on life that holds me to the commitments I’ve made with myself. I take time to recoup and relax when I need to and will always prioritize my mental health first. Focusing on my goals and belief in my faith really gives me the tenacity to push forward through adversity. Those feelings don’t go away the volume is just turned down more.
