Daily Inspiration: Meet Taela Griffin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taela Griffin.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, was what I would call Country! But I absolutely loved it; we had everything that we needed with a touch of ‘soul’ in it. My childhood was fun with the accompany of my sibling (brother). Aside from our parents, we had 7+ grandparents living!!! With so many successful ‘Go-Getters’ in our life, we didn’t have a choice but to try to be great! My first business was a keychain-making business at the age of about 7-9 years old. I would make and sell keychains to everyone from church to my grandparent’s co-workers. From there, several businesses were birthed! At one point, I was selling snacks at school, hand-making jewelry/ repairing jewelry, and doing makeup at a local shop! That was my love, Makeup! I even began traveling for weddings. The love my city showed me and the smiles people gave themselves after looking in the mirror is what pushed me. At age 23, my husband and I moved to Arlington, Texas for bigger and better opportunities, and all I saw was a green light.

I attended Ogle School for Hair, Skin, and Nails. There I obtained my Esthetics License. Once I graduated, I started off slow, but I wasn’t really sure where my place in the industry was. Shortly after graduating my younger brother and one of my biggest supporters passed away and he left me with full-blown motivation. While living, his dream was music, and he wanted to start a label that he would call “PMA: Paper Making Addicts.” *Light Bulb Flashes* I wanted to keep PMA alive, so I registered it as an LLC and started a business as “PMA: Pure Majestic Aesthetics. ” From there, I opened up shop, and my journey as an esthetician officially began.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When it comes to obstacles…Hello, my name is an obstacle! Haha! I’ve experienced everything from pregnancy making me sick, being forced to take a break, renting suites from unprofessional owners, and more. But if you don’t have drive and determination, then the service industry isn’t for you. I just keep going. Amen!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My services. Like many other estheticians, including facials, waxing, and makeup. But it’s my vibe that sets me aside. Clients with busy days draw unto me more than anyone else. My business hours Monday through Friday are all at night! When entering the setting of PMA, the lights are dimmed, and it is time to relax after whatever your day laid on you. During facials, my clients fall asleep as I tend to their skin concerns. During waxes and makeup services, my clients vibe to playlists that I catered to their favorite genre and even enjoy provided snacks. I specialize in relaxation and good vibes; that’s PMA!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
God. He’s the provider of everything I have, and because of Him, I am blessed to have so many people in my corner rooting me on. My husband, who wipes my tears when the road gets hard, my mother, who helps in many ways I don’t deserve, my father, and my many grandparents, who still treat me like their first-born grandbaby. Not to mention a whole boatload of other professional individuals whom I network and exchange advice with.
