Today we’d like to introduce you to Dolores Vidal.
Hi Dolores, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I always have the saying of, things happen for a reason, and it couldn’t be truer with how I got started with my business. My name is Dolores Vidal. I was born in Mexico City but raised in Dallas, Texas. For most of my life, I had always been an obese child, teenager, and adult. Why? If you come from a Latino family, it was “normal” to be overweight because it was hereditary or it was genetic. Well, according to my parents, that’s what it was because I did ask them once Why I was overweight and my younger siblings weren’t, and that was their answer. I never really put much attention or thought to it after this. I would try different diets, pills, and teas, but nothing consistently. I didn’t play any sports throughout my life; anything that involved getting sweaty and raising my heartbeat, I was out! It wasn’t until I was introduced to Herbalife by one of my friends. His mother, Mercedes Hernandez, was having her grand opening of a nutrition club in 2012, and I went. Now, I bought a couple of products, but just like everything else, I only did it for a week or two and left it. What I did start was going to Zumba classes, and I got hooked! I love to dance, so it didn’t really feel like a workout! A year later, in January 2013, I go back to Mercedes to give dance fitness classes, and while being there, she guided me through my weight loss journey. I was at 189 pounds when I first started, and by April 2013, I was weighing 159. Never in my life had I felt so proud of me! This is where my business gets started! Everybody around me, of course, noticed the difference and began asking, “what are you doing to lose weight?” I would just recommend what I was taking and give them a good follow-up. Let me tell you, when I helped the first person with their weight-loss journey, and they thank me with such inspiring words, I knew this was what I wanted to do, change people’s lives in a healthy and happy way! I’ve been so grateful and blessed since then. I have built an amazing community in Oak Cliff and Garland. My clients have become my family. They’ve been part of the most important life events, such as my wedding, baby showers, and birthday parties, and I’ve been part of theirs as well. I’ve raised both of my children, Leonardo (7) and Cassandra (2), around my business. Love found me as well! I married my client, Adrian (our 7th year anniversary is coming up in October), lol! He is currently our dance fitness instructor. I really can’t thank God enough for blessing me with this opportunity that has changed me in so many ways over the past nine years.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve had so many challenges throughout these nine years. I didn’t have my family’s support at the beginning of my weight-loss journey, not because they didn’t want to, but because I’d always start something and never go through with it. So, they thought I was wasting my money again, but I proved them wrong, and they’re my number supporters since then. I’ve also had the closing of our nutrition clubs, quitting on my own people, and quitting on myself. We had a busted pipe at our last nutrition club during the winter storm that caused so much damage, so we had to move. It’s been quite a journey, but I wouldn’t change any of it. We’ve learned and grown from each obstacle.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Helping others achieve their fitness goals Ability to grow as far as you want to Opportunity to be your boss and Opportunity to have your own Nutrition shop
So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
What matters to me is how I make people feel when they come to me. I want them to leave feeling better, with a positive mindset, and having more confidence in themselves. I love what I do! I don’t see myself doing anything else. It is so rewarding to receive text messages of gratitude, before and after pictures of their hard work and dedication, that make it all worth it.
