Daily Inspiration: Meet Catherine Spinazzola

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Spinazzola.

Hi Catherine, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Sure, thanks for your interest, I’d love to. In the Italian culture it’s typical to show love and caring by sharing good food with friends and family. When you think about your favorite memories, chances are some of them took place around a table where good friends gathered together over amazing food and delicious wine. It’s a simple but magical combination! I wanted to create a way for people to easily bring this combination to their day-to-day lives. This is the inspiration behind Testa Rossa Pesto. So I encourage you to break out the pesto, pour some wine, and make some new memories with your loved ones.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think any new business owner will run into unforeseen obstacles, it’s part of any start up. For example, I’d like to sell my pesto online. Sounds easy, right? Everyone does it…Well, I have learned that shipping individual, fresh, refrigerated products in a way that isn’t cost prohibitive to the consumer is a bit of a challenge. Especially in the heat of the Texas summer. But I’m determined to find a way and know that eventually, the solution will come to light.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
It is important to me to use the best and freshest ingredients. No preservatives mean you won’t find my pesto on the store shelf but rather in the refrigerated section. Testa Rossa Pesto comes in three naturally GF, Keto friendly varieties- Original, Nut-Free & Hatch Chili (seasonal feature). You can find it at Jimmy’s Italian Market in Old East Dallas.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The universe has a way of guiding you around corners and through doors to where you are meant to be. After a wonderful career in hotel sales ended due to Covid, I found myself a bit lost and not knowing which direction to turn. As I thought more about my future, one thing became clear. It’s time to follow my passion! I know it sounds cliche, but in my case, it was my way out of the corporate jungle and into the next exciting chapter of small business ownership.
