Today we’d like to introduce you to Spencer Reese.
Hi Spencer, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Spencer Reese and I am a freelance model based in Dallas. I’ve had a love for the art of photography ever since childhood, enjoying being in front of and behind the lens. In my early youth, I briefly did print modeling, but it wasn’t until the past year that I took the plunge to really dive deep into finding my footing in the industry… after a push from a few wonderful friends, that is!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far, my journey has been nothing short of incredible. That said as a mom, optical manager, and freelance model one of the main obstacles I struggle to navigate is balance.
It’s taken work to actively learn to compartmentalize home and work life. The struggle of not being able to mentally clock out when there aren’t enough minutes in a day!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the moment, creatively speaking, I am working primarily as a freelance model with a focus on prints. My work and the projects I’ve been a part of are something that very special to me, it is the one time I truly feel I’m able to express who I am or what’s on my mind by using art /+ modeling to speak. Whether it be my own or someone else’s, there is a profound beauty in bringing a vision to life.
Alongside that, in my free time, I enjoy photographing things like cemeteries, flowers, mountains, and other similar things of that nature. I create digital art with these images and sell framed prints occasionally.
I believe everyone brings something special to the table, and for me, I’d like to think that is my versatility. I have a broad compass of what I am captivated by, there isn’t one singular form of expression that inspires me.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve come to terms with so far is that putting yourself out there and being vulnerable in the process isn’t something to be afraid of or shy away from. Be who you want to be and do what you love because at the end of the day, it’s your life, and you are the only one who has to live it.
