Rising Stars: Meet Monét Lerner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monét Lerner.

Hi Monét, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My name is Monét Lerner. I was born and raised in Westlake Village, California. I now consider myself a Dallasite, though, since I’ve been here in the good ole state of Texas for over a decade. I began singing/acting at the age of 5 in church and could not get enough of it. When I turned 13, I begged my mom to get me an agent, and my journey as a professional actor began. I worked in the television/film circuit until I turned 19; I had the opportunity to work with The Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, FOX, and MTV. When I turned 19, my father passed away, and I struggled for a few years, getting out of the acting business until I moved to Dallas at the age of 22. My first live show in Dallas was at the Pocket Sandwich Theatre, followed closely by a show at Theatre Three. In 2016 I joined the cast at Medieval Times Dallas as a Princess, and in 2017 I performed my first show at the Ochre House Theatre. At the end of 2018, I received a promotion at Medieval Times and now hold the title of “Show Cast Manager.” I have the privilege of Casting and coaching the actors with speaking roles. In 2020, after we came back from shutdown, I was presented the opportunity to learn falconry as well. It has been the most exhilarating time of my life. I have had the honor to work with DGDG Dance group on multiple projects, and most recently- I have been working as a Voice Actor at Funimation/Crunchyroll. I am proudly represented by The Kim Dawson Agency. I have been abundantly blessed with the opportunities that God has given to me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ah, yes. Many challenges and obstacles have reared their ugly head on my journey. Experiencing death at a young age presented having to handle grief & loss with no compass. Now, I view death in a different light- celebrating the life of the one who passes instead of going down into the abyss of depression. Experiencing rejection & harsh criticism in the acting world at a young age was also very eye-opening- but I am so grateful I experienced those feelings and have learned to turn them around for the greater good. I always tell people- do not regret your past because your experience and trauma can and WILL help someone else along the way. My ultimate goal each day is to live in altruism.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

What does success mean to you?
I think success is what you make of it. We all have different perceptions of what it means to be successful. I think as long as you’re truly happy and looking forward instead of backwards, then you are succeeding. Waking up each day with a beating heart that’s success right there!
