Meet Alpa Thakkar of Henna By Alpa in Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alpa Thakkar.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always had an aptitude for art. I grew up In India and spent summer vacation doing arts and crafts. My Cousin and I both did art projects together. One summer she told me about her neighbors who knew to do henna. So then we learnt it from them. I was 12 years old when I learnt the art of doing henna and haven’t stopped since.

My family soon realized I was blessed with this talent and they all came to me and sent their friends to do henna from me. I studied to be an Interior designer. It remained a hobby till I came to the US 21 years ago after my marriage. When I came to the US I realized that I missed doing henna so much that I decided to take it up professionally and I haven’t looked back since.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have never looked at henna as a business. It is the expression on my art and my clients and brides are my canvas. My work brings happiness to my clients and that makes me happy and content. And I hope that this comes through in their heartfelt appreciation.

Henna by Alpa specializes in henna for all occasions e.g.: weddings, corporate events, festivals birthdays, sweet 16, prom, graduation, baby shower, prenatal henna, bachelorette parties, bar mitzvah etc.

My work is intricate and detail oriented. I use 100% Natural organic, premium quality henna. I mix my own henna with natural oils. There are no dyes or chemicals used.
