Life & Work with Breanna Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Breanna Wilson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I knew I wanted to build a better life for myself, so I decided to move out of my hometown to pursue a bigger dream of creating a substantial life for myself and my future! I’ve always felt like I was destined for more in my career and personal life, and I knew that staying in my comfort zone would only limit those opportunities.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a first-generation college student, obtaining a Bachelor’s AND Master’s degree was very challenging! I didn’t have a blueprint of how my future could be, so I had to be a leader and mold it myself.

Uprooting my entire life and moving to a different city is also one of the riskiest decisions I’ve ever made in my life! It has been one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done! I’ve missed out on countless birthdays, holidays, family gatherings, etc., all to chase a dream. A dream of building generational wealth & a substantial future. No one really talks about the hard work and sacrifice it takes to chase a dream. Often times there wasn’t enough money in the bank, and that really took a toll on me mentally, but my faith in God is what guided me through it! I’ve never regretted this decision.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
My career is in Marketing, Racial Equity in particular, and I love it so much! I get to make an impact in the work that I do every day, and I’m most proud of that! My career gives me fulfillment on a different level!

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
I’m the type of person who takes a more “strategic” approach to risk-taking! Life is short, and I feel as though you should always consider every opportunity that God blesses you with! I like to take my time and calculate exactly how this particular decision will impact the “end goal.” I’ve taken risks like moving to a different city, switching career fields, trying a new hobby that’s completely out of my comfort zone – influencing! Moral of the story, nothing ever grows in your comfort zone, so just make sure you think carefully before making each decision – But still go for it! Lol
