Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooks McCormick.
Hi Brooks, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Stew, of The Stewdio, and I went to high school together where we took advanced video production, starting our passion for video. I then went on to earn my MBA in 2020. After that, the world was on pause, including the job market. Stew had been in Dallas freelancing and wanted me to join him to start a full-service video production company.
At the time I was working a cold call sales job, and after two weeks, I met with Stew to see what it would look like if we went into business together. He said he could only offer $100 a month but that I would get equity of the business. I took the leap of faith and quit my other job and went full-time entrepreneur in 2020. Since then, we’ve learned a lot as content producers and also as entrepreneurs.
To date, we’ve made content for brands like HelloFresh, Gold’s Gym, GoodRx, Bark Box, and more!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the video production field, at our level, we are competing with both freelancers and bigger studios. We constantly have to overcome sourcing and vetting new clients to see what stage they’re at with their marketing efforts and their budget. A lot of potential clients want the service of an agency at the price of a solo freelancer.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Stewdio is a full-service video production company that specializes in producing content for the internet. We learned quickly that each platform has a specific style of media content and how important it is for your content to feel native. This means a TikTok AD will look and feel very different than a YouTube AD.
We also help strategize the type of content that can help reach marketing goals. The type of media for an awareness campaign vs. increasing sales on a specific product is very different. Our goal is to make sure the video assets we produce for you will complement your marketing goals.
We are excited to niche ourselves into a service that is focused on analyzing and strategizing a brand’s internet presence through content.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Only one of our core team finished college, and that a lot of our skillset has come through hands-on experience and research.
