Check Out Royce Scott’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Royce Scott.

Hi Royce, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I first started my love for Photography and Art as whole when I started High School. I loved being able to create something on a daily basis, as well as having a method to express myself as a whole. It wasn’t till I went to Front Range Community College where I learned to be profitable with my artwork. From there, I threw myself at any photography opportunity that I could find. It did not matter if the location was dangerous or challenging. With That mentality, I’ve had the privilege of working with Pikes Peak International Speedway, Colorado National Speedway, as well as visiting locations like Gig Harbor, Washington, Anchorage, Alaska, and Cheyanne, Wyoming.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started shooting photographs professionally at the start of the Covid-19 Pandemic. It would be an understatement to say that the journey thus far has been easy. But at no point would I say that it has been daunting.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve tried very hard over the years to find my ‘Je ne sais Quoi?’. Art is meant to move someone. What I’ve found that moves someone is emotion. I’d say what sets me apart is the ability to pull the emotions out of an image. In my early art career, I found myself creating imagery that would express my understanding of my still-developing thoughts and emotions. Now, it’s more targeted in the sense that when I have the opportunity, like at a Wedding, to pull the joy, the anxiety, and all the other emotions to the forefront of the image. If science is the methodology of explaining how something exist then Art is the why.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Dallas has always prided itself on Culture. As far as the art scene goes, I’ve been blown away by how much diversity in style and creative methodologies that Dallas presents. To some, Dallas can be a “competitive” market for the art industry, but only greatness can be born from competition.
