Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Castille.
Hi Denise, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was traveling for work and had reached the end of the work week, which just happened to be the fourth of July holiday weekend. I just wanted to get on my flight back to Dallas and take a nap. I never imagined I would miss my flight because of a medical emergency. I was having a massive heart attack. The only person in the office, thankfully, knew exactly what to do. I am here today because of Marie. I decided to empower and educate as many people as possible with lifesaving skills. I started Any Day CPR Training in 2017. I worked the business as a side hustle from 2017 until 2020. In 2020 I decided to change the structure of the business from sole proprietorship to limited liability corporation.
Late 2021 I decided to take the full-time entrepreneur plunge. I left my corporate role as a Training and Learning Development Specialist with a Plano-based retailer.
I have immersed myself into all things networking. Additionally, we actively place bids and proposals for business. As a result, we have been awarded a few contracts that, over the summer took us to: Denver, CO, Reno, NV, Roanoke, VA. We were recently invited to be 1 of 2 featured suppliers at Waste Management’s Houston Corporate Headquarters.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been smooth roads, but there have been struggles along the way. Struggles include cash flow. It’s great to win the contracts; however, it is a challenge when big companies pay net 45 or net 60.
Other struggles include positioning to scale and increase sales.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Any Day CPR Training, LLC?
We currently teach instructor-led CPR | AED | First Aid certification classes. These classes are designed for individuals who are not in the healthcare field; however, certification is required for work or volunteer assignments. Individuals may opt to take a class with their family or friends simply because they want to learn what to do in an emergency. We also teach Be a Better Babysitter with CPR certification class. This class is an interactive, engaging class for girls/boys 11-16. If your son, daughter, church group, youth ministry, or troop wants to be babysitter trained and CPR certified, call us to set up a class.
We also sell automated external defibrillator (AED)s. AEDs are lifesaving devices.
We differentiate ourselves by ensuring that every person every class will have hands-on opportunities/skills test. We pride ourselves in being “fun but firm.”
We want readers to know that Any Day CPR Community provides FREE hands-only CPR classes. Any Day CPR Cares will donate a portion of the class profit to the 501(c)3 of choice (host of class makes the choice). This is new, and we look forward to positively impacting charitable organizations.
We are most proud of Be a Better Babysitter. This class was created by Denise. It is a program that teaches 11–16-year-old what it takes to have a babysitting business as well how to care for infants through infant simulations and more.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Confidence. I’ve found that confidence is powerful, and it invokes trust and facilitates respect. Recently, I was having a one-on-one with someone representing an organization we want to do business with. The company representative asked, “who can we introduce you to?” I had the confidence to say, “we want to be the official CPR training provider for ABC.” We are working on the particulars for this specific relationship.
