Hi Alesia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started my business during the pandemic. Covid had us all scared!!! So, I was trying to just make sure I did not catch it or get sick. I had personally been taking seamoss for 3 years up until covid for weight loss. I realized, through intensive research, that seamoss has more benefits than just losing weight. Originally, I just wanted to help people who were feeling anxious and fearful about their health during that time just like myself. I made a post on Facebook advertising it and it got way more attention than I expected. At that point, I felt like maybe God wanted me to do this and help people who are not their best. So, I just continued to do so from then and it’s been great ever since. I was not expecting to still be doing it today but I am and every day I get a new customer.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a business is not for the weak!!! There have been many days where I just want to give up and quit because of how overwhelmed I get with being a mom, working a full-time job, going to college and then trying to keep my business popular and running. I have had to learn time management for sure. Without a plan and schedule every day I would not be able to do it. Another struggle is realizing you won’t make the same amount of money every single day. Some days are better than others definitely. It is also been tough marketing and advertising. I am very new to this, but with research and reading you can figure any issue out and solve it. It just take tons of patience, which I am still learning and mastering today.
We’ve been impressed with SiaEssentials, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SiaEssentials is a black-owned business based in DFW, TX. I primarily sell seamoss but I also sell other holistic products. I came up with the name because my name is Alesia and I sell seamoss. So, I took the Sia from my name and thought it went perfectly with seamoss. For, example SiaEssentials Siamoss, so it’s my own! I take pride in my business and everything I do as well. I think that’s one thing that sets me apart. Also, the fact that I care about each of my customer individually and really just want them to be their best selves. It would not matter if money was included, I truly just want to help people so we can change the world one by one. I am most proud that I am going on almost three years in business, which is a big accomplishment because most people do not make it past their first year. If I could tell the whole world about my business, I would let them know all of my products are from the earth and I do not sell anything I do not personally take or use myself. That’s how much I believe in everything I sell!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
God is the most important factor to my success. I have such strong faith that I know no matter what I do, it is going to be great because it is touched my God himself. Being a humble and an honest person is another factor to my success. No matter what I believe you should do everything with honesty. Last, my ambition and drive has gotten me pretty far. I know if I did not believe in myself as much as I did, I would not get very far. I just stay focused and consistent. With those two things you can do anything.
