Meet Megan Clegg of Cleggraphy Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Clegg.

Megan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
On January 11, 2014, I married my husband, Weston. As a full-time event planner, you can imagine, the wedding planning role was easy for me. I knew exactly what I wanted and was able to make quick decisions! I had a blast!

I continually read blogs and try to find something new and trending in the industry. After planning a wedding, I wanted to help others have their perfect day! But the actual planning part did not appeal to me when I already planned about 10-20 events a year during my workday. In July of 2014, I found calligraphy!

Calligraphy was my way of getting lost online. I could read blogs, look at Pinterest and imagine all day long! It wasn’t until I put pen to paper that I realized I had an eye for it. I love watching movies with my husband and lettering. This is the best way for me to spend my time while being at home with Weston.

I started practicing every day, I would get lost for hours. I addressed envelopes for my first wedding in December of 2014 and business started flowing in. At first, I never thought about turning it into a business. It was something I enjoyed and brought in extra money. In April of 2016, things changed. I decided to take a leap of faith and quit my “dream job” at Texas Christian University and begin a business. I have never looked back.

I am blessed with amazing clients and talented vendors I get to work with every day. Cleggraphy Designs has big plans for 2018 and I can’t wait to see how everything unfolds.

Has it been a smooth road?
Every business has some bumps along the way. Some think owning a business is all fun and glamorous but there are times where things are hard. I can definitely say that there have been struggles along the way but the good outweighs the bad. For example, there was one bride I worked with before I had established a contract for my business and I learned a lot from this experience.

We look at a contract as something that protects both the client and us. Since we established this, it has been very smooth. It is always good to put all expectations and information out on the table so both parties know what to expect.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cleggraphy Designs – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Cleggraphy Designs may have started as a calligraphy and hand-lettering but we are now a full-service invitation and details business. We specialize in custom invitations- making your wedding paper suite elegant and personalized. We believe invitations are your guests’ first impression of what to expect when they arrive.

Handwritten calligraphy will add a personal and sophisticated touch. We also work with the bride all the way through the planning process, from save the dates to invitations and working to incorporate the same style throughout the entire event experience with place cards, escort cards, programs and more!

As a business owner, I am very proud of where my business has evolved. I work hard to create relationships with all of my clients and refer other vendors they are needing. The wedding industry in DFW is so close nit and I am very thankful to be a part of it. Our team of 3 works together to make sure everything is done in a timely manner. Creative juices are always flowing in our studio.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I LOVE the talent that the DFW wedding industry has. Together, we produce beautiful tablescapes and invitation suites. We have amazing venues of all different styles. Our floral statements are breathtaking.

Photography is evolving and they are amazing at capturing every moment and detail. Our planners maintain great relationships with vendors and find the right vendor/style for every bride. DFW is doing everything right!
